At the Berlin International Rail Transit Technology Exhibition, which opened on September 18 (local time), the concept vehicle with a maximum speed of 500 kilometers per hour developed by China Railway Corporation Tangshan was launched for the first time. A prototype of the off-line 350 km/h variable marshalling EMUs has also been unveiled. This is the first time the series has been exhibited overseas.

It is understood that our current EMU is fixed by 8 or 16 cars. Variable marshalling EMUs can change and match the carriages at will within 2 to 20 sections according to the characteristics of inter-city lines. Huang Junhui, Deputy Engineer of China Central Car, introduced that the smallest marshalling unit of the variable marshalling EMUs is two sections, that is, two power head cars are connected. If we want to enlarge the marshalling, we can calculate the best combination of efficiency according to speed and power. By adding electric vehicles and trailers in the middle of marshalling, we can form EMUs with different speed grades of 160-500 kilometers per hour and any number of knots of 2-20 knots in the marshalling.

Because there are light and busy seasons in railway transportation, there is also a difference between regional passenger flow densities. Fixed marshalling trains are subject to unrestricted restrictions, so transport and passenger often conflict. Variable marshalling EMUs can be marshaled according to the actual situation such as passenger flow characteristics, flexible response to passenger flow and passenger demand. In areas with large numbers of passengers, double deck, long marshalling and large capacity EMU can be used; in developed areas, short train trains with comfortable and large space can be used; Short distance marshalling trains can be used in areas with a small number of passengers. In addition, the variable marshalling EMUs also increase the EMUs' fast transportation capacity at the lower part of the double deck vehicles, which can realize small-scale heat preservation, refrigerated containers, express and luggage transportation, filling the blank of EMUs' fast freight transportation. In addition, the variable marshalling EMUs can be repaired separately by pulling out the faulty cars, which greatly reduces the reserve rate, which is one of the important technical breakthroughs in the railway industry.

It is reported that at present, the 350 km/h variable marshalling EMU prototype car has been offline in China Railway Corporation Tangshan, and carried out the necessary tests, is being used to verify the feasibility of the application.
